Exterior CFD Case Studies: Mission-Critical Facilities
This series presents screening-level exterior CFD analyses of mission-critical facilities across the United States, conducted by Resolved Analytics using public-source inputs and a standardized methodology built on Siemens STAR-CCM+. Each case study examines a specific facility's rooftop or ground-level heat-rejection configuration under worst-case wind and ambient conditions, with findings shared directly with engineers of record on request.
The cohort now spans eight facilities across New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, California, Illinois, and Florida, covering rooftop air-cooled chillers, waterless dry coolers, ground-level chilled water plants, and campus-scale multi-building arrangements. The most consistent finding across the cohort is straightforward: generator exhaust impingement on heat-rejection equipment is common, it is identifiable early, and the cost of addressing it scales dramatically with where in a project's timeline it gets found.
