Do Reindeer Really Know How to Fly?
As 2016 comes to a close and we reflect on what has been a momentous year for Resolved Analytics, we are so grateful for all of our new acquaintances and all of our awesome customers. Whether you have loved or hated 2016, we wish all of our blog readers a joyous holiday season and wonderful new year.
To help everyone get into the holiday spirit, we took a little extra time last week to see if Santa's reindeer really know how to fly. To help unravel the mystery we performed a not-so-very-rigorous Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based engineering analysis of a fully-coupled reindeer-sled system. A snippet from our research is shown below. Those interested might be able to pick up on a few techniques in post-processing Autodesk CFD simulation results.
Finding the right 3rd party CFD company can be hard and that is why we've compiled this list of the top CFD consultants in our market space.
In this section, we’re discussing software packages that strive to be comprehensive, multi-physics tools but, in our opinion, fall just a little short in some respect. There are many available CFD software packages that could be described as semi-comprehensive, and we couldn’t possible review them all and still get any real work done. So here, we are focusing on three software packages in this category based on their large user base and/or their potential to become comprehensive: COMSOL Multiphysics, CONVERGE CFD, and Numeca OMNIS.
In this simulation we answer the question "How thermally efficient is a Christmas Pyramid" using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
There are numerous advantages to using open-source software packages of all types, but along with those advantage come a few catches. Part 2 of Comparing CFD Software discusses the use of OpenFOAM for CFD applications in depth, reviewing its background, capabilities, and more.
CAD-Embedded CFD Software is overhyped, but it is still a good value for some users. Part 1 of Comparing CFD Software discusses in depth the 3 most popular CAD-Embedded CFD Software: SolidWorks Flow Simulation, Autodesk CFD, and Ansys Discovery Live.
What Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software package is right for you? We take you through a pros-and-cons style comparison of the most popular CFD software on the market. Featuring SolidWorks Flow Simulation, Autodesk CFD, Discovery Live, Open-FOAM, COMSOL, CONVERGE CFD, STAR-CCM+, Fluent and many more.
We based our top ten list of best fluid dynamics inventions on a combination of the overall impact of the invention and the depth of fluids science required, asking ourselves, "What would have been the effect on society if each development had never occurred."
If you are reading this, chances are you are just getting started with CFD. Here are a few straightforward and candid thoughts based on my 15 years of experience on things to consider as you move forward with CFD. I hope some of them can help you avoid bumps along the way.
This article addresses the role of external simulation service providers in a corporate engineering strategy amidst the rapidly growing complexity of products and product development cycles currently driving an on-going "simulation revolution."
